We left the stream of Jeeps driving down the rim to enter our roadside stop.
Vera treated us to a breakfast picnic:
fresh bread, jam, bananas, hard boiled eggs, hot tea and coffee.

Nearby were corn vendors - smelled great!
Vera overlooking the peaks and vegetation below.

Sue-On had a chance to walk among Brugmansias or Trumpet plants on the roadside!
The blossoms had a nice fragrance, once we got past the exhaust from all the Jeeps and motorbikes.

After breakfast Bill hiked to a mountain-side look-out pagoda

Views of the road we had travelled. . . near and far.
.

Looking down across Sea of Sand to the volcano we were about to climb --
unfortunately suddenly emitting gases.

Back to the Jeep for the drive to the huge flat caldera area below
