A bit slow off the block on this photo album.
This is the first actual meal I cooked in 2013:
Baked chicken with spicy Cajun seasoned bread crumbs
(Ok... I cheated - ramped up Shake 'n' Bake Cajun mix with Slap Ya Mama seasoning),
stir-fried carrots, zukes, and cauliflower,
and a side of brocoslaw with dried cherries and roasted walnuts.
Satisfying after a lovely drive to the farm this afternoon!

.

Fresh lily bulbs - a special variety that looks like the Tiger Lily but not noxious.
These are sold in Chinese markets fresh or as dried "petals".
They can be made in soup or stir-fried (as I was told by a Chinese student!),
but I love them ion a simple broth with a bit of ginger

Soo's #113: Kung Po Gai Ding !

.

Bowl of #113 with Jasmine rice and a sprinkle of Sechuan peppercorns
- a new batch of peppercorns - numbing along with the heat of the fresh chilis!

.

Vegetable "fried rice"...

.

Oven baked chicken with Cajun rub and Slap Ya Mama, roasted beets,
stir-fried beet greens, fresh mushroom sauce.

Blanched gai lan with sweet soy sauce.
Picked this bundle up in Wpg... mainly stalks but very young tender plants.
YUMMY!

.

Greek meatballs, switched up with ground chicken
instead of beef / pork combo, sweet peppers instead of spinach.
These were pan-fried then simmered in chicken stock until tender
because of the raw rice in the mixture.
These are VERY good, moist and flavourful.

.

The meatballs are immersed in avgolemeno sauce
(eggs, lemon juice and the chicken stock used to simmer the meatballs).
These were served over a bed of spaghetti squash,
and we had stir-fried sweet peppers, zukes, and baby corn with the meal.

Leftover Greek meatballs are decked out so pretty!
Had it with shiritaki noodles instead of spaghetti squash.

.

Grilled lamb chops with mint sauce!
Bill's birthday supper :-)

.

Turkey meatballs with tofu Shiritaki noodles, choy sum, bean sprouts, curry paste
and Old Momma Chili sauce in fat-free chicken broth.

.

"Just a spoonful of..." Mmm...mmmm!

.

Baby bok choy

.

Fish Fragrant Eggplant and Bell Peppers

.

Mapo Tofu with Ground Turkey - eaten with cauliflower "rice".
