Thank you for being the guardian of the history of CJATC Rivers, you’ve done a great job.
When I went visited the base in 2014 it was quite a surreal experience.
I hopped the gate and walked around everywhere and took a lot of photos.
I also took a rock as a memento. I wish I could have seen it in its heyday.
So far I’ve been to three abandoned bases, Rivers, Picton ON, and an old radar station at Foymount ON.
I joined the CAF in 1983 as a reservist then transferred to the regular force in 1985.
I retired in 2019 and transferred back to the reserves and now work with my local army cadet corps.
I am sharing what I have found from dad's stuff from
Rivers.
I am not sure of the years he served at Rivers but
he did mention that it was his favourite posting.
He joined the CAF in 1951 and was in until 1965, he
was medically released due to heart problems.
I have a lot of photos but I believe they are all
from his time in Germany.
I am very proud to see my dads face preserved in the history of CJATC Rivers.
