1908 MAGIC LANTERN SLIDES OF BRANDON

I have been looking with interest at your website particularly the vintage views of Brandon.

My grandfather, Rev Hugh Rodger, visited Canada in the summer of 1908 to attend his brother's wedding in Wapella SK.  He sailed from Liverpool on the Empress of Britain for Quebec and travelled via Montreal, Ottawa, Winipeg and Brandon, returning via Sault Ste Marie, Hamilton, Toronto, Niagara, New York and New England.  Being a keen photographer he produced a series of magic lantern slides illustrating his journey.

My grandfather was a Baptist minister, hence his interest in the Baptist College and Church and it probably is the reason why he broke his journey at Brandon en route to his brother's wedding in Wapella.  In his notes he described Brandon as a fine little prairie city.  He spent a weekend there, meeting two Baptist Professors and attended evening service in the church.

Please note that my scanner is unable to accommodate the full 3.25 inch height of the lantern slides so I have been selective in the portion which I have copied.

The slide titles are:
Rosser Avenue
Baptist Church
Baptist College
Red Indians in Brandon
